Day by day itinerary:

Day01: From the airport to Tsetang.

Tsetang is a small city located 183 km southeast of Lhasa in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Tsetang was the capital of Yarlung and, as such, a place of great importance. In the 19th century it is said to have contained some 1,000 houses, a bazaar, a gompa and a fort. It is now the capital of Shannan prefecture and the second-largest

Day02: Visit Samye and Yambulakhang.

Samye MonasteryLocated in the quiet piedmont area of the Shannan Region, the Samye Monastery is the first temple to be built in Tibet and the first complete with the three Buddhist jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. With these unique features, this splendid temple has become an attraction for visitors from near and far. The temple was built by the Trisong Detsen (reigned 742-798) of the Tubo Kingdom and was presided over by the Buddhist master Padmasambhava. The Detsen contributed a lot to the project.

Yambulakhang There's a saying that you can't claim to have been to Shannan without having visited Yambulakhang and Trandruk monasteries. Yambulakhang in Tibetan means a palace on the leg of a doe. It is perched dramatically on a pinnacle above the valley. And the mountain where the palace situates looks like a doe. Yambulakhang Monastery was the summer palace of Songtsen Gompa and his wife before Norbulinka was completed. It's the oldest known building in Tibet, and the first fort in Tibet. When the monarchy ended, the palace became a monastery.

Day03: Drive to Lhasa enroute Mindruiing monastery

Minzholing Monastery The monastery was built in the late 10th century and had its current name when it was rebuilt in 1677. It is one of the three great monasteries of the Rnyingma Sect. The monastery has paid attention to the research of Buddhist classics, astronomical calendar, calligraphy rhetoric and Tibetan medicines and is famous for its achievements in these fields. Over the years the recommendation of the Chronology of the Tibetan Calendar has been formulated by the monastery, and it is famous as the first academy of Lamaism in Tibet.

Day04-Day07: Visit Potala, Norbu Lingkha, Drepung, Ganden and Sera monasteries, Jokhang, Tibetan Medical Center and Barkhor.

Potala Palace

Located on the Red Hill of Lhasa, it is the symbol of the city, known to the world for its grand constructions, elegant buildings, exquisite artworks and pious religious atmosphere.
.is the one most highly regarded. It is probably the most famous Tibet attraction to see while visiting. One reason is its location, in Lhasa-a city often frequented by tourists. The second reason is its extreme beauty and historical significance. Definitely a must see site.

Jokhang Monastery, Lhasa is Tibet's earliest wood-masonry structure dedicated in 647 to a full length stature of Sakyamuni as a 12- year-old boy. It is also in the possession of a collection of cultural relics dating back to the Tang Dynasty, including statures of Songtsan Gambo and Princess Wencheng. Tang architectural elements are palpable in the main hall, a resplendent four-floor building facing west under a gilded rooftop. The walls in the halls are corridors are decorated with mural illustrating the deeds to historical and mythological figures.

Drepung Monastery is the largest monastery in Tibet and lies in the west of Lhasa. The Unveiling Ceremony of the giant Thangka of the Buddha is held in Drepung Monastery on the first day of the annually held Shoton Festival. To get here take a taxi which costs around

Ganden Monastery is also located in the west of Lhasa. Some buses on Jokhang Temple Square go to this monastery; they start at 07:00 every morning and return at 14:00. The journey takes about two hours in total and the round trip ticket costs

The Sera Monastery lies on the northern edge of Lhasa at the base of Tatipu Hill. 'Sera' means 'merciful hail' denoting its rivalry with the 'Rice Heap' (Drepong) since hail destroys rice. Sera was smaller than Drepong with about 7,000 monks but was very rich and comparable in power.

Mentsekhang (the Tibetan Traditional Hospital), history of the Tibetan Traditional Hospital can be traced back to 1916. Named Mentsekhang in Tibetan, it began as a regional government teaching organ in which Tibetan doctors and astronomers were trained. In 1959, the government merged Mentsekhang with another medical college, which was formerly situated on the Chakpori Hill. In this way the Tibetan Traditional Hospital and its associated Tibetan medicine factory, were founded. The clinic of the hospital lies in the Barkhor Street , to the west of the Jokhang Temple.

Day08: Drive to Gyantse and visit Gynatse monastery.

For most visitors to the Tibet Autonomous Region, the name Gyantse does not bring a familiar ring as compared with larger cities like Lhasa, Nyingchi, Yadong and Xigaze.But the minor city is a firmly written chapter in Tibet's modern history.>>>Gyantse

Palkor The monastery is a symbol of the architecture of Gyantse, and it is known as One Hundred Thousand-Buddha Tower. Built in the period in which the various sects stood one to the other, and Nip Tuck, the monastery is the peaceful coexistence of these sects, each six to seven.

Day09: Drive to Shigatse and visit Tashilunpo monastery and the market.

Tashihunpo Monastery has a magnificent architectural style with a golden roof and resplendent buildings. Dozens of monasteries belonging to different sects enhance the atmosphere of Buddhism. Various grand festivals like Buddha Unveiling Festiva l in the monasteries each year give people a chance to admire the huge portraits of three Buddhas

Day10: Drive back to Lhasa.

Day11: Free day in Lhasa.

This is a day at leisure in which you are free to explore further, revisit a favourite monastery or simply sit in a caf�� overlooking the Barkor and watch the pilgrims as they circumambulate the Jokhang, stopping regularly to peruse the merchandise at the stalls lining the route.
There is also the option of an additional tour to places such as the Tibetan Medical Centre, Ganden Monastery and Tsurphu Monastery.
